Purchasing the right gift for your teen can be quite difficult. You will either knowingly or unknowingly fall into one of two categories, the first category is where most people find themselves and this is that you have no clue what your teenager is going to like or what to purchase for them. The second is that you will feel you are tuned in to what they like, the downfall here is that if you’re not careful, your quickly going to learn that you no absolutely nothing about them when you get them gifts they hate.

Pleasing a teenager is never easy so we ran a survey amongst their age groups in order to determine a top gifts list, be it for Christmas, their birthday or some other special occasion, here’s the results:

MP3 Player / Music
Easily the highest voted for item was either an MP3 player, or a gift card for the likes of iTunes so they can buy some music that they like. Don’t try buying music for them, you’ll never get it right so a gift card fits the bill perfectly.

Video Games
In order to buy a video game you’ll need to know what games console they have, as you may well have had to buy this for them yourself it might be an easy task, but if not never presume they’ll have the latest, find out first.

Choosing a video game that they don’t already have or are going to like isn’t easy and if you know friends of the teenager it can be a good idea to get their opinions and thoughts! It can always be a good idea to simply ask what video game they want or try and have a conversation about new games that are coming out, this is better than choosing something that may never come out of the box.

Tickets
If you know the teenager favourite band then getting them tickets to a live gig is a great gift idea. If you really have no idea regarding what bands or artists they are into it could be a great idea to look at getting them tickets for one of the larger music festivals which include a large selection of acts and almost certainly somebody they are going to enjoy.

Finding the right present in generic gift shops for teenagers isn’t easy, but a bit of common sense and creativity can go a long way to pleasing them, for a short while anyway.
