Great Eco-Friendly Gifts Ideas for a Greener Christmas
Christmas is getting even closer and a huge number of people will have already begun their Christmas shopping. Although we enjoy the holidays due to the gifts and the large amount of good we consume, Christmas isn’t a good time for the environment.
Alongside the huge amount of food and gifts we buy also comes a great deal of wrapping and packaging. The actual items within the wrappers create problems for the environment, especially the creation of the items.
Never fear though, for those that try to be as eco-friendly as possible, there is a number of things that you can do to try and make your Christmas less damaging to the environment.
Trying to think up gifts ideas for your various relatives is a difficult job in itself, but trying to think of eco gift ideas is even harder. To give you some ideas, here are some great eco gift ideas.
With climate change having such a massive effect on the minds of people, retailers have started to sell even more eco-friendly and recycled products. Obviously laundry baskets or recycled tableware aren’t ideal items for Christmas presents, but there are others available that are. There are gifts for everyone, from brandy drinkers to gardeners, you can get things such as recycled brandy glasses or recycled gardening tools, all of which make great Christmas gifts.
As for children’s Christmas gifts, unfortunately you won’t be able to find a huge amount for older kids. However, if you have younger children then you should be able to find some great gifts along the lines of fair trade soft toys or solar powered wooden toys.
There are some brilliant shops offline and on that sell a huge range of eco-friendly products.
The last way you can help the enviroment this Christmas comes just before the big day, the gift wrapping. Although you may think you can’t do much about it, unless you just leave the presents un-wrapped. However, there is. Due to wrapping paper being made from paper, it’s ridiculously easy to recycle, this has resulted in a large number of retailers offering recycled wrapping paper. Also, after the big day, make sure you recycle all your wrapping paper to finish the job off.
